Joseph Galante

Joseph Galante is a violinist and music educator specializing in historically informed performance practice. He has participated in festivals such as the Amherst Early Music Festival, Tafelmusik Baroque Workshop, and the Lamèque International Baroque Music Festival. He has performed in collaboration with lutenist Charles Weaver, violinist Dongmyung Ahn, and performs regularly with his ensemble Consort Camarades.

Joseph has spent over a decade teaching private and group lessons to aspiring string players and pianists throughout New York City, Long Island, Westchester, and Connecticut. While earning his undergraduate degree at the Aaron Copland School of Music, he studied violin with Daniel Philips, Dr. Kristin Lee, and Dr. Dongmyung Ahn, as well as viola with Dr. Gregory Williams.

Joseph completed his post-baccalaureate advanced certificate in music education at the Aaron Copland School of Music and is well-versed in upper/lower string and piano pedagogy. His focus centers around helping his students manage their practice methods in order to create a foundation of good technique by utilizing technology and recording platforms for students to develop consistent, quality practice routines at home. As a teacher, his objective is to foster his students’ love of learning and music by having them develop an awareness of how they learn, what their interests are, and how they can utilize their problem-solving skills for better independent learning. Joseph currently serves as an orchestra director in the Connecticut public school system.
