Our Faculty
Owner Lisa Arkis has put together a stellar group of musicians that are also wonderful and caring teachers who teach all levels and ages. Often potential students wonder if they need a great teacher if the student is a beginner. In fact, it’s especially important for beginners to have a great teacher so they are set up well right from the beginning with healthy habits!

Our acclaimed faculty members are performing musicians that understand how to nurture a love of music that will last a lifetime. For the more ambitious students, our teachers can prepare them for concerts, competitions, and auditions.

Beautiful Facilities
I love to hear young students bounding down the hallway and watch them burst into the children’s area to say hello to their friends and draw and build impressive constructions with blocks. We have rotating exhibits of all their wonderful artwork as well as a lovely waiting area for older students and parents where one can either read quietly or talk and get to know other members of the WMS family.
We have French doors with glass panes to every studio so that you can watch your child’s lesson while you wait. Or if you prefer you can sit in on their lessons. Our warm and inviting atmosphere helps to foster creativity and build friendships.

Performance Opportunities Throughout The Year

Students, if they are interested, have the opportunity to perform in winter and spring recitals as well as take part in other musical events. My favorite part of these concerts is hearing everyone’s progress from year to year and to watch everyone cheering on their friends. Our students, for the most part, are long term students – both children and adults – and it’s very moving to witness everyone’s musical growth over time.

There are also various opportunities between our winter and spring recitals. We have prepared piano, wind, string, and voice students to perform at the Young Artist Music Festival, and the Elite International Competition as well as prepare them to audition for various festivals such as NYSSMA, CMEA Western Regional, (middle and high school) All-State, All National, All-New England, area youth choirs, youth orchestras, and chamber music ensembles.

Suzuki Method Near Me

Our teachers use a variety of teaching methods and styles including the Suzuki Method, developed by the Japanese violinist, Dr. Shinichi Suzuki. Wilton Music Studios offers piano, violin, and cello lessons with Suzuki certified faculty members who can teach a strict form of the method, or a hybrid, blending it with traditional teaching styles.
Students can begin as young as 3 years of age when their curiosity and use of repetition as a learning tool are already very much engaged, as it is when learning a language. The emphasis on the triad of the student, parent, and teacher with clearly defined roles assures an environment that focuses on the central idea that a child’s work is their play. Yet, it is never too late to start with this method, and can be just as effective for any age, even adults. Dr. Suzuki’s goal was not simply to develop professional musicians, but to nurture the whole person and help develop each child’s character through the study of music.

Lisa Arkis, Director of the Wilton Music Studios has created something very special. The instruction is not only amazing but customized to fit the needs of each person. I’ve learned that great instructors who really love music, love teaching, inspire others and are willing to evaluate each student to figure out what is best for that student are superior. These are the kind of teachers at the Wilton Music Studios provides and they are hard to find anywhere. Hats off to Lisa and her team for finding them!

I highly recommend Wilton Music Studios! Scheduling of lessons couldn’t have easier and Peter has been incredibly flexible about accommodating my work schedule. He has an amazing teaching style and readily adapts his teaching plan to work on whatever problem I may be having.. As an adult, I am impressed with Peter’s ability to steer me away from being self critical and help me focus on the joy of music

We consider ourselves very fortunate to have become involved with Wilton Music Studios. Lisa is a gifted musician and an extraordinary teacher. Her work with my daughter has been tremendous. Lisa has encouraged her to strive to reach her full potential and has also given her much confidence as a performer. Lisa is deeply committed to and passionate about her work, and she has been an important teacher and mentor to my daughter. The facilities at Wilton Music Studios are spacious and welcoming. Lisa has assembled a terrific group of teachers, and she has successfully created an enthusiastic musical community of students, parents, and teachers. I recommend her, and Wilton Music Studios, without reservation.

Not only is Lisa a great flutist she is also a great teacher with a genuine passion both for music and teaching. I have had Lisa as my flute teacher for two years, ever since she took over Wilton Music Studios (which also underwent a top to bottom renovation). Lisa is very knowledgeable, patient, encouraging and has a unique way to approach (my) musical difficulties from different directions. I can highly recommend her for beginners as well as advanced students.

I am recently retired and a new piano student…fulfilling a life long desire to explore the world of music. Where to begin, who to talk with, should I have someone come to the home, would a studio really work for me, could I really start at square one as a beginner at anything at this stage in my life. These were all relevant questions.
I had an initial discussion with Lisa, owner of Wilton Music Studios, who listened carefully to what I was looking for and quickly grasped that a key to success would be flexibility to adapt to my interests and learning style. She encouraged me to consider and talk with her instructors directly. Enter my instructor, Edmund Arkus, who took me on as a student. Edmund’s credentials are exceptional and to listen to him play is inspirational. But what I have been so pleased by is the way he has worked with me. Our lessons are highly interactive, with the foundational elements you would expect integrated into a program that allows me to explore and play the music I love. His willingness and ability to move across different genres of music and teaching techniques to find what works best for me has turned out to be the perfect mix to build momentum and entusiasm. The journey is far from over…but 9 months later and thanks to Edmund, it has exceeded my expectations.
For any adult looking to fulfill or rekindle a long abandoned passion for piano, I suggest a call to Lisa and Edmund as a first step.

Lisa Arkis is an excellent and nurturing flute teacher. Not just for teaching technique and tone, but also for boosting the student’s self-confidence and teaching self-relaxation. She pushes her students but without overwhelming them and stressing them out. The most important thing is for her students to do their best and enjoy themselves—that’s how she gets them to improve and love playing the flute. She’s a very dedicated, patient, and selfless teacher.
